Bookmaker Review of BetFair
2006/10/25 - Review by Ira Nanson

The UK based book Betfair proudly displays the Queen's emblem for winning the award of Enterprise, for the Innovation category in 2003. This prestigious award is only given every 5 years and Betfair would need to undergo another full assessment by the Department of Trade and Industry and a recommendation by the Prime Minister if they want to display the emblem again after 2008.

Like Mansion, Betfair offers a sports betting exchange where bettors can choose the best odds and wager against other bettors instead of the house. There is no tax to pay at Betfair, bettors recieve commision on their net wins and as an added benefit there is an incentive program, the more you bet the more you get!

Some customers, expecially newcomers are sometimes confused by the betting exchange feature but once familiar it does add an exciting twist to your betting enjoyment.

There is a simple 4 step signup process and like some UK books such as SkyBook and BetDirect you can set your own daily or weekly deposit limits, range between 15 - 15,000 in the currency of your choice.

Betfair uses proprietaty owned software, the website is easy to navigate and the only thing that bothered me about this site is the number of popups involved, but nonetheless they do have extensive betting options invcluding financial bets. gaelic racing, combat sports, politics, darts, horse and greyhound racing and american sports.

Other attractions include poker, games, access to forums, in play betting and mobile wagering.

Its admirable to see a bookmaker contribute something back in to the community and each year Betfair selects a charity, hosts fund raising events and traditionally they donate £125,000 to match the same target amount when its raised.

Customer service is only availble via email and telephone but they do promise to repond to emails within 4 hours during helpdesk hours which is between 3pm and 5am GMT 7 days a week. Most likely you will find the answer to your question in the comprehensive FAQ section.

There is really nothing to complain about at BetFair and like their main UK competitors William Hill and Ladbrokes they certainly have a lot to offer, and in a very secure and stable environment.
