Sportsbook Review of MySportsbook
2007-08-03 - Review by Ira Nanson

MySportsbook is characteristic of many of the old Sportingbet books that are now operated by Jazette Enterprises Ltd.

Still operating on the World Gaming platform, placing wagers and navigating the sportsbook is fairly typical with odds offered on football, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, tennis, auto sports, golf, boxing, cricket and rugby.

Wager types include straight bets, totals, money line, half time, parlays up to 12 teams, teasers up to 15 teams, futures, buy points, if bets and reverses.

  • Also on offer is reduced juice betting every Friday
  • Promotions and free weekly contests
  • Weekly rebates
  • Sports news, scores, schedules, stats and betting line feeds
  • 24/7 customer support via live chat, email and toll free telephone service

Phone wagering is not permitted. Minimum stake is $5.

All withdrawals are processed within 48 hours.

Minimum deposit is $20 and the maximum is $1,000 per day and $6,000 per month. These limits can be increased by contacting the customer support team.

Operating as a licensee of Sportingbet, MySportsbook's business model was based entirely on cybersquatting which threatened to tarnish the reputation of the licensor. The book was once quite merciless in registering domain names that were closely linked to the more reputable books like MYbookie and 5Dimes which promised to mislead unsuspecting customers in to signing up and depositing funds.

In an effort to eradicate the problem and restore the reputation, Sportingbet took control and fully acquired MySportsbook in August 2005.

When the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 was introduced in October Sportingbet sold all of its US operations to Jazette for just one measly dollar and consequently offloaded $13.2 million worth of debt. As part of the deal Jazette agreed not to take bets from outside the US for two years or take any from the Americas for three years.

Jazette remain defiant of the US law and like other private online gambling companies such as Bodog, Bookmaker and BetJamaica they will continue to take bets from US customers.

Undoubtedly JEL have hit rocky ground in their attempts to secure financial payment processors and struggle to make payouts to customers. As a result there are a spate of complaints from unhappy customers who have waited weeks / months for their money. Customers should be wary when dealing with any book that is operated by JEL until they have resolved theses issues.
